Notes

  • Origin questioned. The 1816 remark "aus Nº 7?" has an unclear second digit; 71 fits best (1816 numbers run about one above 1811 there, so 71 = 1811 No. 70, Matz's family). But the numbering suggests 1811 Nos. 1–77 are Neu-Woidoma (Karula), not Alt-Woidoma: 1811 No. 78 Köchtla = 1816 No. 79 = the first farm of the 1826 Alt-Woidoma list (SL-142). If so, Hans came from Neu-Woidoma to Wardja Matzi after 1813, and his father and brother should be sought in the Neu-Woidoma lists.
  • Research note: the two Woidoma estates were one until 1822, with one joint numbering in 1816; Alt-Woidoma's farms all had 1816 numbers of 79 or more. So "aus Nº 7?" points into the Neu-Woidoma block whichever of 71, 75 or 78 is right (medium-high). The Neu-Woidoma 1826 and 1834 lists are not in Saaga.
  • Possibly the Hans Wardja, aged 55, of Wardja Matši, who died of dysentery on 6 Nov 1846 O.S. (buried 9 Nov; EAA.1290.1.60 file 42, deaths No. 317). Unconfirmed.
