Peet (Leoke)

c. 1731–1803

Peet is the earliest known ancestor of the Leoke line, Hans Leoke’s great-grandfather. Born about 1731, he lived at Wardja Matzi farm on the Vana-Võidu estate with the family of his brother Jaan by 1795, before peasants there had surnames. His sons were Jaak and Andres. He died in 1803.

Notes

  • Earliest known ancestor in the Leoke line, found in the 1811 revision. Surnames were not yet in use; the 1826 list writes the family as "Loeuk".
  • His brother Jaan (L-037) headed the Wardja Matzi household; Jaan's son Hans (L-038) was the farm holder until 1813. So the Leokes lived at Wardja Matzi with cousins from at least 1795, long before Jaak married into the Wardja family in 1838.
  • The 1782 and 1795 Alt-Woidoma revision lists are not in Saaga, so his household cannot be traced further back there.
