Jaak Leoke (Lõuk)

1813–1867

Jaak Leok (Lõuk) was Hans Leoke’s father. Born in 1813, the son of Jaak, Peet’s son, and Greth, he married Kaddri Wardja, the farm holder’s daughter at Wardja Matzi, in 1838. The Viljandi Museum’s biography calls him the manor carpenter; the estate revisions list him as a landless laborer. Of his children, only Hans is known to have survived childhood. Widowed in 1853, he died of dropsy at Saare Annuse on 7 October 1867 (Old Style), aged 55.
