Research notes
- Confidence: Good.
- Baptism confirmed: EAA.1286.1.304 img 15, Paistu births 1881 No. 162, Johan Koik b. 19 Aug, bapt. 13 Sep 1881, Euseküll (SL-67). Godparents: Juhan Rantsar, Johan Koik, Liisa Rantsar, Reet Arak. The two Rantsars are probably his mother's relatives (U-014).
- Marriage date: 18 Nov 1907 O.S. in both Halliste marriage lists; the household book's 13 Nov is wrong.
- Living on 22 Dec 1929 (daughter Ida's marriage entry). After that, nothing in Saaga: the Karksi and Halliste church registers there end in June 1926 and the Karksi household book in 1932/33 (no death or move noted); the 1926–40 civil registers are not online. Leads: Soviet-era Karksi household books 1945–46 (EAA.M-136.1.35 to.52) and an enquiry to the National Archives.
- His father died in January 1896, when Juhan was 14.
- Death not found: no death note in the Karksi household book to 1932 (K01). Grave leads tested: Johan Koik 1896–1992 (Halliste) is not him; Hans Koik 1881–1953 (Paistu V 15, with Anna 1892–1967) is a low-confidence lead only; the Paistu Juhan Koik 1887–1972 is U-009's father. Karksi cemetery is not on kalmistud.ee.
